Hi. I'm Alex. I am a college student from California. Drawing is my hobby, I'm majoring in human biology.|
I started to really focus on improving the quality of my drawings when I was around 8 and I started watching anime other than Pokemon. I bought a couple books on how to draw in the manga/anime style. I didn't really draw as often as I do now. In middle school I started drawing a bit more. My drawings looked really flat and box-y. I started buying more books and really examining my process and what the differences were. When I started high school my drawings were still pretty box-y and I had no knowledge of anatomy (look at my stuff from 2011). As high school progressed I started paying more attention to anatomy and started drawing joints in people and tried different poses and points of view. My resources changed from books to online tutorials and other's practice sketches. I like to see how other people have improved to remind me of our roots and that no one starts out drawing perfect anatomical figures. This encourages me to keep practicing and experimenting with everything.
I'm still working on everything, I don't really have a comfort zone yet. I don't have a style down either. I have worked mostly in a digital format and simple pen and paper sketches. I haven't really worked in other mediums and I haven't really focused on realistic drawing.
I'm currently trying to figure out gesture drawing as well as perspective and composition.
